A new report from an Apple analyst — Ming Chu Kuo claims that their will be two variants of iPhone 14 — a 6.1 inch and 6.7 inch. He claims that there will be no mini version in 2022 which means that this year we will get a mini version of iPhone 13 but this it will be produced in lower quantities, as even the production of iPhone 12mini had because of lower than expected demand from users.

So the iPhone line up for 2022 will consists of two iPhone with 6.1–inch and 6.7–inch display, a base and a pro variant.

Ming Chu Kuo predicts that new iPhone 14 could adopt 1/1.3″ CMOS image sensor which could support hybrid operating modes which will help in maximizing the size of a pixel and improves its light-gathering capabilities.

He says that those iPhone 14’s main 48MP lens will also be able to produce 12MP output and with 12MP output, the CIS pixel size increases to about 2.5um, which is significantly larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and larger than existing Android phones, and close to the DSC level.

For reference, pixel size of 48MP snapper comes in about 1.25um and the iPhone 12’s pixel size is about 1.7um

Ming Chu Kuo predicts iPhone 14 will be capable of 8K video recording but at what FPS is still unknown, he also added that this year’s iPhone 13 will feature a sensor which will give us pixel size of 2um.
