Today Qualcomm announced a new chipset named Snapdragon 778G. This new chipset’s architecture will be based off of 6nm. Although specs-wise it looks more like a new variant of Snapdragon 780G. According to a Chinese leakster Honor 50 could very well be the first smartphone to come with it.

Specifications of Snapdragon 778G

Snapdragon 778G has custom-made Cortex-A78 — Kryo 670 clocked at 2.4Ghz. As for GPU it comes with Adreno 642L which supports all usual features like HDR10–10+,Vulkan 1.1, OpenCL 2.0 FP, OpenGL 3S 3.1 etc.

This SOC can support upto FullHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of upto 144Hz and 10-bit color depth. To perform all AI related functions it houses 6th gen AI engine called Hexagon 770.

To handle all camera’s it comes with 14-bit Spectra 570 chip. Which supports upto 192MP single lens or upto 36+22MP dual lens or 22MP Triple cam setups. Spectra 570 supports 10-bit HDR HEIF / HEIC photo capture, AI-based autofocus, multi-frame noise reduction, 720p/240fps slow-motion video shooting, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG.

To handle connectivity related tasks it comes equipped with Snapdragon X53 Modem-RF system which supports mmWave (400Mhz bandwidth with 2×2 MIMO) and sub-6Ghz (100Mhz bandwidth 4×4 MIMO) 5 spectrums. It supports Wifi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Dual-Frequency GPS, USB 3.1 and USB type-C.

For security it has Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max fingerprint scanner chip. And it will support Qualcomm’s Latest Quick Charge technology — The Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.
