Two weeks ago, Asus teased its upcoming handheld gaming console — The Asus ROG Ally. What many took as an April Fools joke later turned out to be an actual console which the brand started sending out to some Big tech Youtubers (pre-production models) for their first impressions of the device.

Asus has successfully kept the hype train going by announcing that the Ally will have a worldwide release and that it may be released sooner than anticipated. This news has left us feeling excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming launch of this gaming console.

Online reports had previously predicted that the new Asus gaming console would make its debut in October of this year. However, a new teaser from the company has hinted that the console could be launched much sooner than October, contradicting the earlier predictions. This new information has left many people curious and eager to find out more about the possible release date.

Asus has announced that its upcoming gaming handheld, the ROG Ally, will soon be available globally. However, the company seems to be giving priority to a North American launch, with Best Buy potentially serving as an exclusive retailer. The Phawx, a reliable source for handheld gaming news, has reported that ASUS is targeting a launch price of around US$650-US$700 for the ROG Ally, which is lower than the previous speculation of up to US$800. This means that the device will be priced competitively with the highest-spec Steam Deck model.

Asus ROG Ally Specification (Alleged)

Asus is gearing up to launch the ROG Ally, a brand new handheld gaming console that runs on the Windows 11 operating system and is powered by a custom AMD Ryzen chipset. The device is expected to support external GPUs, enabling it to handle more resource-intensive games with ease. One of the key features of the ROG Ally is its 7-inch touchscreen display, which has a Full HD 1080p resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Compared to its rival, the Steam Valve, the ROG Ally is anticipated to be slightly narrower, thinner, and lighter, weighing in at 608 grams and measuring 280mm x 113mm x 39mm. Moreover, the ROG Ally prototype unit reportedly features software customizations, such as a fingerprint reader that is believed to be used for switching between different accounts.
