Google initially planned to release 4 betas for Android 14, but later decided on 5. The company then issued a last-minute bug fix to the fifth beta release. Today, it released an even more last-minute bug fix, Android 14 Beta 5.2, to all devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program. Like Beta 5.1, which was released one week ago, this update is focused on fixing bugs.

Here are the specific changes in Android 14 Beta 5.2:

  • Android 14 Beta 5 fixed various issues that caused devices to stall when rebooting.
  • The update also fixed issues that could interrupt cellular connectivity for devices that utilize E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity (ENDC) when those devices were connected through 5G NR low-band frequencies.
  • In addition, the update fixed an issue on Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet devices that caused the fingerprint sensor to be unresponsive in some cases.
  • The update also fixed an issue on Pixel Fold devices that caused Perfetto trace data to be incomplete.
  • Additionally, the update fixed an issue on Pixel Fold devices with stuttering animations when viewing or tapping the notification for an ongoing call.
  • The update also fixed an issue on Pixel Fold devices that sometimes caused the system UI to crash after using the fingerprint sensor.
  • The update also fixed an issue on Pixel Fold devices that sometimes caused the screen to briefly flicker when unfolding the device.
  • Additionally, the update fixed an issue on Pixel Tablet devices that sometimes caused a colored bar to display or flicker after unlocking the device.
  • Finally, the update fixed an issue on Pixel Tablet devices that caused the system to play incorrect sounds when docking or undocking the device.

All eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program will be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 5.2.
