Google has officially announced that its first-ever smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, will be available in India this year. The device was not available in the country last year, disappointing fans. The announcement was made yesterday, along with the confirmation of the availability and pre-order details of the Pixel 8 series smartphone in India.
Google officially announced its second-generation Pixel Watch, which will debut in India on October 5, shortly after the company’s annual ‘Made by Google’ event in New York. The smartwatch will be available exclusively on Flipkart and will compete in the premium segment against the likes of Apple, Garmin, and Samsung.
A 15-second teaser video shared by Google reveals the Pixel Watch 2 from all angles. It is similar to the last-generation offering, with a slightly redesigned rotating crown, a physical button, and a microphone hole on the side. The teaser video also reveals text under the surface of the Pixel Watch 2, which mentions the IP68 rating, 5ATM water resistance, heart-rate sensor, EDA (electrodermal activity for stress management), and more.
According to leaks and rumors, the Pixel Watch 2 is expected to come with a 384 x 384 pixel display resolution, a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 306mAh battery. It is also expected to support Ultra-Wideband (UW) connectivity.
The exact sale date and pricing of the Pixel Watch 2 in India are still unknown. However, the announcement of its availability is a positive sign for fans of the smartwatch in the country.
