Tecno unveiled the rollable smartphone concept Phantom Ultimate today. The display expands sideways from 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in 1.2-1.3 seconds. The second concept device by Tecno is very similar to the Vision V, but without the folding part.
A single-drive motor system expands the Phantom Ultimate when you press a button on the top right side of the phone. When the device is rolled, it becomes a basic 6.55-inch smartphone, with the extra screen on the back acting as an Always-On Display.
Here are the specs of the Phantom Ultimate:
- 7.11-inch On-cell LTPO AMOLED display with 2,296 x 1,596 pixel resolution and 388 PPI.
- 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.
- 9.93 mm thick at its base.
- Easy to hold in one hand.
- Protective glass for the sliding area.
- Textured back for better grip.
The Phantom Ultimate is just a concept for now, and there’s no indication when it will be released. Some technological limitations need to be overcome before rollable phones can be mass-produced.
