A few months ago, rumors swirled that Samsung would ditch Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips altogether for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, opting for an all-Exynos lineup. However, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo threw a wrench in those plans. According to Kuo, Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 chip, expected to be the heart of the S25, might not even be released due to production issues stemming from lower-than-expected yields on the 3nm manufacturing process.

This unexpected turn of events could make Qualcomm the sole supplier of processors for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The phones would then be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is expected to be unveiled in October. If this pans out, it wouldn’t be the first time Samsung went all-in with Snapdragon for its Galaxy S series. In fact, they did the same thing with the Galaxy S23 lineup last year, marking a first for the Korean brand. However, with the current Galaxy S24 generation, Samsung returned to its usual strategy of offering a mix of Exynos and Snapdragon variants depending on the market.

It’s important to note that these are still early days, and Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy S25 could always change. But analyst predictions suggest a potential shift towards Qualcomm chips for the upcoming flagship series.
