Apple is shaking up the iPhone lineup. They’re ditching the Plus model for a thinner, lighter “Slim” model starting with iPhone 17. This new model aims to bridge the gap between regular and Pro iPhones.

Rumors suggest Apple is innovating the iPhone 17 Slim’s design. It’ll be thinner and lighter than current models, with an aluminum chassis. The camera island flips to a horizontal layout, similar to Pixel 8 phones. However, Apple recently switched to vertical cameras for Spatial Video, and it’s unclear if that feature will work with the new layout.

The front of the phone gets a narrower Dynamic Island, possibly thanks to a more compact Face ID sensor. The overall design is rumored to resemble the iPhone X.

The Slim will sport a 6.55-inch display, filling the gap between non-Pro and Pro models (iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display). It’ll also be the first non-Pro iPhone with a 120Hz high refresh rate display. The base model of iPhone 17 might get this too!

And that high refresh rate won’t be wasted. Just like Pro models, it’ll be adaptive, automatically adjusting to match what’s on your screen.
